Due to the conflict in Gaza between 27 December 2008 and 17 january 2009, IMS is focused on the safety of media practitioners working to cover the conflict. IMS is mapping the needs of media practitioners and cooperating with other international media organisations to respond to the needs identified and invetigating further on mission in Gaza.

During the very first days of the ceasefire following the armed conflict between Israel and the Palestinian Territories, IMS' Anne Poulsen took the opportunity to capture moments and impressions of the effects of the armed conflict on her visit to Gaza. Once the ceasefire opened the Gaza Strip to the international media, many foreign media workers went in to capture live images from the Post-conflict situation in Gaza.

 

 

 Abu Dhabi TV reporter Aiman Ar-Rezi

Aiman Ar-rezi, a Palestinian freelance reporter was busy editting live footage for Abu Dhabi TV in the Media Tower in Gaza City, when the building came under israeli fire. He was lucky to survive the attack which, according to him, was targetted to silence the media.
