Promoting high-quality journalism

The Earth Journalism Award, initiated by Internews in 2004, aims to promote media coverage on climate change in regions, which are is highly vulnerable to the impact of climate change. Often these areas are characterized by low or non-existent media coverage of cause and impact of climate change.
Part of the purpose of generating climate change media coverage is therefore to stimulate public debate on the upcoming negotiations on climate change as a way to boost awareness among the general public as well as policy makers of the tough decisions waiting ahead in Copenhagen.

Executive Director in IMS Jesper Højberg sits on the expert jury for Danish contributions:
- As IMS supports this opportunity to promote high-quality media coverage, IMS is hopeful that the award campaign will spawn a wealth of innovative and insightful climate change media reporting around the world.
