Debate: Documenting a revolution

09.11.2011 Share on facebook

During the Arab Spring, ever-present cameras and mobile phones gave citizens the chance to document their own revolutions first-hand. Meet four prominent Arab media professionals in a debate about documenting revolutions as they unfold

Thousands, maybe even millions, of video clips, images and sound bites have been disseminated through traditional and new media outlets since the uprisings in the Middle East started in December 2010. This massive documentation is a symbol of a new way of interacting, which has fundamentally altered relations between the media and the citizens.

Meet film director Elyes Baccar (Tunisia), journalist Thameur Mekki (Tunisia), film event maker Lara Baladi (Egypt), photographer and blogger Maggie Osama (Egypt) in a debate about documenting an unfolding revolution.

When: Tuesday, 9 November at 16:15
Where: Cinemateket, Gothersgade 55, 1123 Copenhagen K

The debate is part of a series of seminars and film-viewings on the Arab Spring titled "Free Radicals" organised by IMS in collaboration with CPH:DOX, the Copenhagen Documentary Film Festival which takes place between 3 - 13 November.
