18 independent documentary filmmakers based in Lebanon and Denmark spent five to six weeks in each others’ respective parts of the world in the course of 2009 and 2010 during which each filmmaker produced their own documentary on a subject of their choice. The partnering of young Danish and Lebanese/Arab filmmakers took place as part of IMS’ Twinning programme which furthers dialogue and the exchange of experience between film and media professionals in the Arab world and Denmark.

DOX:MOSAIC: Broadcasters such as Al Jazeera, filmmakers and producers from the Middle East and Europe will gather to discuss documentary filmmaking in the Arab world.
As an exciting side-event of the much anticipated CPH:DOX Film Festival, a discussion forum titled DOX:MOSAIC will focus on the impact of documentaries in the Arab world and Europe. The event includes a session by Middle Eastern and European broadcasters on what they look for when selecting documentary films for TV broadcast. This is followed by a closed session in which selected filmmakers will pitch their projects to the broadcasters.
The discussion forum is organised by CPH:DOX, International Media Support (IMS) and Danish Broadcasting Corporation (DR) to strengthen the dialogue between Middle Eastern and European counterparts.
When: 4 – 14 November
In the spirit of supporting new talent, CPH:DOX launched an exclusive talent workshop DOX:LAB in 2009, handpicking a small number of young, international filmmakers and visual artists to participate in an experimental documentary laboratory.
This year, Nidal Hassan, a prominent Syrian filmmaker and partner of International Media Support, will participate and closely cooperate on a co-production with Lilibeth Cuenca, a Danish counterpart during CPH:DOX.
