SCOOP - investigative reporting in Eastern Europe and the Caucasus

Investigative reporters are the watchdogs of society. In Eastern and south-eastern Europe investigative reporters get support from SCOOP, a network and support structure established by IMS in cooperation with local journalists and FUJ in 2003. Direct support in the form of coaching and financial support enable the journalists to carry out in-depth investigations and bring the results forward to the public. SCOOP extends to numerous countries in the region thereby connecting investigative journalists in the region as well as globally.

The IMS-funded investigative journalism programme Scoop will expand it's activities to cover support for investigative reporting in Russia starting fall 2010 and will run over the course of next three years

Scoop, a programme for investigative journalists in Eastern and Southeastern Europe is getting ready to expand its activities to cover support for investigative journalism in Russia. SCOOP is run by  IMS and the Danish Association of Investigative Journalists (FUJ).

- This is fantastic, says Henrik Kaufholz, who has been with Scoop since January 2003 and is also the coordinator of Scoop Caucasus.

- For some years we have been looking for funding to support investigative reporters in Russia. Now we are able to both train them and support them during their research.

The funding will cover activities in the Northwestern part of the Russian Federation, but Scoop also has its own funding for some activities in other regions in the European part of Russia.
