IMS is launching a new report capturing the outcomes of the IMS conference on ICTs and networked communications environments: Opportunities and threats for press freedom and democratization held in September 2008

On 15-16 September 2008, IMS organised and hosted a conference focused on the opportunities and threats for press freedom and democratisation brought about by new communication technologies.

The conference which was supported by Open Society Foundation, Nokia and Telia, was attended by 80 special invitees representing IMs partners from the media NGO sector, human rights groups as well as media practitioners from a broad range of countries.

The new report captures the essense of the many important discussions that took place during the conference, and it is the aim of IMS, to document the current trends of the ongoing debates surrounding the new uses of new communication tools.

The report may be downloaded free of charge - please see the publications section. Also, a number of hard copies are available upon request to the IMS communications coordinator.
