Putting new media to the test

18.09.2008 Share on facebook

New modes of communication were presented and tested by the participants at the IMS conference 15-16 September 2008 in Copenhagen on ICTs and networked communications environments: "Opportunities and Threats for press freedom and democratization"

On the first day of the conference, the Kaospilots had been invited to organize an afternoon of testing new communications tools in different locations around Copenhagen.

They included: Listening to pirate radio set up in a shopping mall; e-blogging on the internet; live streaming on the internet site Bambuser.com of footage recorded by cell phone; using the media sprinkler to mass-disseminate sms messages to cell phones and using Jaiku to disseminate information via cell phone.

Nokia provided cell phones for the Expo of the conference and Telia provided sim-cards which made the testing possible.

The following are moments captured along the Expo-route.
