Bahrain

In Bahrain, IMS works to support democratic discourse through media monitoring of elections and the promotion of investigative journalism. IMS also supports initatives that gradually expand media freedom and professionalism in the country such as partnerships with journalism unions. Connections between Bahraini and Danish media workers serve to create a long-term engagement in the country and develop capacity-building opportunities.

Storytelling with Soundslides in Bahrain

10.08.2010 Share on facebook

In an illustrated diary, Danish photo journalist Hans Christian Jacobsen describes a five-day training of journalists and photographers at the Al Wasat newspaper in Bahrain in the art of using Soundslides to tell a story

Soundslides has been in use at major media outlets around the world since 2005 and is immensely popular. The programme is based on Flash, a multi-media platform, and combines pictures with sound which can be used on newspaper websites to tell a story.

In May 2010, Hans Christian Jacobsen conducted a workshop at the Al Wasat newspaper in Bahrain as part of IMS’s Twinning programme which pairs media professionals in the Arab world and Denmark with a view to trading experiences and skills.
