IMS supports the media community in Liberiaduring the post-conflict transitional period following the peace agreementsigned in August 2003 and help build a coordinated framework for internationalassistance to the media community. Within this framework, IMS has supported thedevelopment of the Liberia Media Centre (LMC), the work of the Liberia MediaLaw and Policy Reform Working Group as well as provided support for thedrafting of a media development section of the Poverty Reduction Strategy forLiberia.

"Without IMS, nothing would have happened" , says Edetan Ojo, Media Rights Agenda in Nigeria in an account about his collaboration with IMS to support media developments in Liberia

 

In a rare testimony from one of IMS' partners, Edetan Ojo explains, what it is that makes collaboration with IMS different from working with other media organisations. With the example of Liberia, where IMS and Media Rights Agenda in Nigeria worked closely together to help shape the framework for a fruitfuil media sector as Liberia struggled to overcome years of armed conflict.
