‘Broadcasting in Azerbaijan’ is organised by the IMS-supported Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety (IRFS) in Azerbaijan on December 18, 2012.

Under the theme of ‘innovative broadcasting’, this event features two panels on Public Service Broadcasting and television, emerging platforms, and digital media, as well as a panel on radio. It is the ideal opportunity to find out about new ideas and projects; developments in content; innovative broadcasting; discuss the switch over from analogue TV; and look at the launch of digital radio.

Speakers represent major Azerbaijan and international broadcasters from television and radio, content producers; internet and digital media, government and representatives of the national and international NGOs.

During the conference, IRFS will launch a new report on the state of the Azerbaijani broadcasting. The IRFS research team has been lead by the organizations’ chairman and media expert Emin Huseynov. The international expert is Rasto Kuzel with Memo 98. The project has also been supported by Gulnara Akhundova, International Media Support, who compiled and edited the report.

The conference brings together attendees representing all sectors of the broadcasting and media industry, including television; radio; content producers; telecommunications; digital media; government; law-makers; National TV and Radio Council and civil society.

IMS’ Gulnara Akhundova will moderate a session on broadcast diversity and pluralism.
