In response to the earthquake and tsunami that struck northern Sumatra on 26 December 2004, the UNESCO Jakarta Office and International Media Support (IMS), a based in Copenhagen, fielded a joint media assessment mission to the province of Aceh from 19 to 27 January 2005. This version of the report is being made publicly available by IMS in the interests of sharing information and enhancing coordination amongst media support actors. In this regard, it does not necessarily represent the official outcomes or recommendations of the joint mission team and/or UNESCO Jakarta Office. The information contained herein was collected during the emergency post-tsunami period and should be independently rechecked by any party seeking to use it as a basis for comment or action.
