In a year of major changes in the Arab world, Yemen has witnessed its share of turmoil in 2011. In addition to the long-standing tension and fragmentation along regional and tribal lines, the past year has seen unrest and mass protests against the 33-year rule of President Saleh. In light of the recent instability, International Media Support (IMS) carried out a mission to the country in December 2011. The aim of the mission was to assess the overall situation of Yemeni media and their needs and challenges in the period ahead. This report presents the findings of the IMS mission.
